Obituary
Helen Marie Lovett McKinney
Helen Marie Lovett McKinney, a humble servant of Jesus Christ, passed through the threshold of death and made her entrance into the regal presence of her glorious King Jesus Christ, robed in His perfect righteousness and arrayed in majestic splendor.
She was born May 12, 1925 to Allie Washington Lovett and Lela Jane Hankins Lovett of Morehead, MS. While a senior at Central High School, Jackson, Ms, she was invited to attend a Revival service where a young preacher, Don McKinney was speaking. During that 1942 service God called her to Himself and she was changed by the power of Gospel. Some months later, Don came back to Jackson and started courting her and they later married. Marie was a devoted wife and wanted to help her husband in the ministry. At the age of 26, she taught herself to play the piano. For 60 years she played the piano and organ. She played in her home church, Heritage Baptist, in Lake Charles, LA until her husband of 66 years died in 2009. For the past 7 years she has been a resident of Morningside of Dalton Assisted Living. Often she would play hymns for the residents to their delight. She couldn’t remember what she had for breakfast but she could play for 30 minutes one hymn after another from memory. She was God’s gift to Barry, Jennifer and Ron.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 1:00 PM at Grace Chapel, Reformed Theological Seminary, 5422 Clinton Blvd., Jackson, MS.
