MISSIONARIES TO THE PHILIPPINES
COLLINGWOOD PRAYER LETTER 2 July-September 15, 2016
Church Planting ** Bible College ** Christian School ** Discipleship
Dear Pastors and Praying Friends,
I am still amazed as I view the approach of our Lord Jesus Christ towards sinners. “And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd. Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.” (Matthew 9:35-38) After this our Lord calls His twelve disciples and sends them out, followed later in appointing other seventy disciples also and sending them out.
For the past 34 years we have by God’s grace followed this pattern with training those God has saved and involving them in ministry according to the gifts and calling of God. The Bible College currently has 15 men sharpening the axe and already involved in ministry at their local churches. The need will always be there for more disciples.
For example, Pastor Joseph needs someone to assist him, full time, with his two mission stations. One of his men trained in the Bible College is preparing for a London, UK trip since he received a scholarship grant from one of the universities there. There are many challenges from others raising a family and having financial responsibilities. This coming March we shall be graduating at least 6 of these men. Of these, Brother Gerry Santos may take over the helm of leadership in Bustos since Pastor Jun Santos has many medical challenges.
Pastor Edgar dela Cruz needs two men to assist him in his works in the mountain of DRT which is growing rapidly. We are praying for the possibility of sending Brother Juan Carlo there to assist and eventually, God willing, if the Lord gives him a burden, he could take over the work there. It is a good distance from the mountains of DRT to San Ildefonso with the Pala Pala work. This work is growing as well.
We have mentioned before concerning one of the missionaries that we support from the base work in Baliuag, Bulacan, Pastor Mark Esguerra who ministers to the Philippine National Police on the Island of Romblon, Romblon. He has ministered some 20 years on the island and has a wonderful work. Recently he was able to secure permission to minister to around 100 Coast Guard personnel on a regular basis. He is praying about starting another mission work in the Rizal, Marikina area on the Island of Luzon where he has 15 original Romblon members who came north to the island to look for better opportunities. As he has followed Jesus’ disciple-making pattern, he is looking for the right person to oversee that possible mission.
Brethren, these are prayer requests to the Lord of the Harvest that He would sent forth laborers into His harvest. Jesus used the words, multitudes and great multitudes, and the great compassion He has for them as fainting and scattered abroad as sheep without a shepherd.
We give praise that the ongoing ministry is to the third and fourth generation. May He receive all the glory for the on going Bible studies in the many barrios and sitios for His name’s sake.
PRAYER REQUEST: A new worship area is needed for the main church and center of training. The estimated cost is $65,000. The Department of Education will give approval for our GCA high school once we have an independent auditorium for worship.
We want to express our appreciation to all who pray and give regularly for this outreach halfway around the world.
By His grace and for His glory,
Brad and Bonni Collingwood
