Helen Marie Lovett McKinney Obituary

May 10, 2017 by admin

Please be in prayer for our Pastor and his family as his mother Helen Marie Lovett Mckinney past away this week.

Obituary

Helen Marie Lovett McKinney

Helen Marie Lovett McKinney, a humble servant of Jesus Christ, passed through the threshold of death and made her entrance into the regal presence of her glorious King Jesus Christ, robed in His perfect righteousness and arrayed in majestic splendor.

She was born May 12, 1925 to Allie Washington Lovett and Lela Jane Hankins Lovett of Morehead, MS. While a senior at Central High School, Jackson, Ms, she was invited to attend a Revival service where a young preacher, Don McKinney was speaking. During that 1942 service God called her to Himself and she was changed by the power of Gospel. Some months later, Don came back to Jackson and started courting her and they later married. Marie was a devoted wife and wanted to help her husband in the ministry. At the age of 26, she taught herself to play the piano. For 60 years she played the piano and organ. She played in her home church, Heritage Baptist, in Lake Charles, LA until her husband of 66 years died in 2009. For the past 7 years she has been a resident of Morningside of Dalton Assisted Living. Often she would play hymns for the residents to their delight. She couldn’t remember what she had for breakfast but she could play for 30 minutes one hymn after another from memory. She was God’s gift to Barry, Jennifer and Ron.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 1:00 PM at Grace Chapel, Reformed Theological Seminary, 5422 Clinton Blvd., Jackson, MS. Visitation will be 11:30 AM till 12:45 PM at RTS prior to the funeral. Pastor Shane Kastler, Dr. Charley Chase, Dr. William Sasser and Pastor John Hunter will be officiating. Burial will be at Lakewood Memorial Park immediately following. Contact www.sebrellfuneralhome.com for information and tributes.

Pallbearers include all grandsons: Collins Horton, Haddon McKinney, Todd McKinney, Justin McKinney, Charlie McKinney and Jamie McKinney. Honorary Pallbearers include: Jeff Ingle, Brad Binkley, Ham Bates, Scott Kinnamon, Stephen Moore and Larry McKinney.

She is preceded in death by her husband Dr. Donald J McKinney (2009) and her son, Paul Barry McKinney (2011). She is survived by her daughter Jennifer Horton (Bud) of Brandon, MS; and her son, Ron McKinney (Bonnie) of Dalton, GA., daughter-in-law Kathy McKinney of Brandon, MS. Other survivors include: Sister-in law Paulette McKinney, Tyler, TX, Grandchildren, Amber Binkley (Brad), Lacey Bates (Ham) Brandon, MS, Collins Horton (Heather) Memphis, TN, Brittany Horton, Nashville, TN, Heather Kinnamon (Scott), Ringgold, GA, Haddon McKinney, Atlanta, GA, Heidi Ingle (Jeff) Dalton, GA, Hope Moore (Stephen) Smyrna, GA, Todd McKinney (Sharon), Dothan, AL, Monica Tucker, Justin McKinney (Bridget), Kelly Pryor , Charlie McKinney, Casey Green, and Jamie McKinney all of Brandon, MS. Larry McKinney (Dana), Michelle Negem (Jimmy) Tyler, TX, Laura Wilhite, Waco,TX. She had 22 great grandchildren. Numerous neices and nephews.

Special thanks to nurse Shelia Ault (who loved her like a daugther), to Toni Thompson, Director, Morningside and the staff, who treated her with love and dignity, Dr. Stephen Carson, whose love was more than a physician, and Heritage Baptist Church who cared and loved her for 47 years.
